Non-Genre Writing Assignment

The Evil Unicorn
By: Nicole S. #20

Yesterday, all I can think about is yesterday, and choco-pies. Incase you haven’t heard of me (not like anyone hasn’t) I’m the amazing Bobbilina (Bob for short) People are saying that yesterday an evil unicorn arrived in our great town, Funnland. I feel responsible because the one trouble with eating choco-pies is that it can supposedly unleash an evil unicorn and I think that might have... unleashedtheevilunicorn.
My mom made me stop eating choco-pies because she was scared that I would unleash an evil unicorn because her great Uncle Stan unleashed one. of course she’s just making that up so I won’t eat too many desserts though. Mom says that it happened because he borrowed a crumb of a chip from a witch and never gave it back so the witch cursed him and all of his family for... ETERNITY! How fake is that? But it’s not my fault they’re so good and addicting. I had no choice but to buy them at Target© even though the E.U.T (evil unicorn tamers) are always outside protesting.
I heard that whoever called the evil unicorn had to train the evil unicorn. I also heard that to train an evil unicorn you had to feed it a choco-pie. And I sadly heard that evil unicorns overbite. The trouble is that now there’s an evil unicorn so I can’t buy anything because my mom won’t let me go anyw...
“Bobbilina, It’s time for school” my mom yelled. Except... (dan da da dan) SCHOOL!!!! Well, time to go diary. Inform you later.
Oh yeah, I forgot that I bring you to school. Well, when I went downstairs I was going to tell my mom about my crisis, but she was dealing with my younger sister, Rose, age 4. Rose thought that her imaginary ‘friend’ was hitting her again. “Ouch! Ouch! Ouch!” my sister screamed.
On the bus, Rose was aggravating everyone. “Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! Stop the bus! My friend is out of control” She screamed as I hid my face behind my bag  in embarrassment. Rose was so annoying that she gave me an idea for how to tame the evil unicorn, I’d put my sister down to distract the evil unicorn and then I’d come in, tame it, and be the hero. “Ouch! Ouch! Ouch!” Rose screamed again. My plan was 1,000,000 foolproof.
Home at last, safe, fre, “Yahhhh, Scarlet” (Rose’s imaginary ‘friend’) “Hit me on the head with a baseball bat!!” Rose screamed.
Now, time to tell my mom what I did and what I plan to fix it.
“You what?! You disobeyed me! And you were going to put your sister’s LIFE at stake to fix it! YOU are GROUNDED, BIG time!” My heart dropped, I’ve killed my town. I thought...
“Yeah!!” I screamed after 3 days when my mom let me be FREE early by 100 weeks (okay, maybe only 10 days) because the evil unicorn was getting near our street. My mom’s one condition was that I don’t use my sister as bait, “Aww, but okaaaay” I agreed.
I ran to Target© to get a choco-pie for the evil unicorn. When I saw the evil unicorn I stood in...AWE! It was a majestic and awesome and big and awesome and cute and awesome and scary and awesome and VICIOUS!!! and...Awesome.
(Flip, flip, flip. Sorry, just checking if I told you my new plan yet, nope).
My new plan was to pretend to be my sister, tame the unicorn, and be the hero.
Well, the evil unicorn ate the choco-pie, but nothing happened.
I decided to go to the E.U.T. and hope that they lived up to their name.
I was right, as always, they had potions to put in the choco-pies to make the evil unicorns go back to evilunicornlandia.
At home I got my moms sleeping pills. This is so it would fall asleep and go back to where it came from..
Once I had the choco-pie mixed with the poisons and the sleeping pills, I went and continued my plan.
The evil unicorn was in sight, time to start! “Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! Yahh! Yahh!” I shouted as I imitated my sister. It worked again and the evil unicorn stared at me in confusion.
“A little tweat fwor a bwig bwig bwoy!” I said in the babiest voice I could because a baby voice always gets attention (B.T.W.s I was hoping that the evil unicorn wouldn’t think that I’m teasing it and luckily it didn’t).
“Yumm! Yumm! YuzzzzZzzzzzZZZZzzzzz” the evil unicorn snored
“Bobbilina in the house yall!” I yelled
“Hooray!” everyone shouted back! I was finally a hero! :) The evil unicorn vanished. He was on his way back to evil unicornlandia.
Now, the hard part comes, facing, dan da da dan ... my MOM!
“You are in so much ttttrrrrrreble clef! “What?” I asked “Treble clef means not trouble, didn’t you know that silly? But you know next time you should listen to your mwommy!”
Beeeep beeep beeeep. What? My alarm clock? It was all a dream?
“An evil, Yahhh!l unicown is, Ouch! terrorororizizing, Yahh! the, Ouch! twoon” Rose said repeating the news then running out of the room. “Here we go again” I sighed.
“Leave me alone Scarlet” yelled Rose running out of the storage room with a baseball bat.l

I thought that my story was good. Now that I reflect I think that I would've rather written an adventure story. In all I think i did okay!

Grade 5 Music Informance and Reflection

I learned that being a teacher is hard work especially teaching my dad. I aslo learned  that when everyone's focused and working hard music can sound very good. But sadly some people in our class didn't give it their all during practice so I don't think it sounded as good as it could've.

Service Learning Reflection

What?

What are we doing?
What have we accomplished?
What have I learnt?
So what?

What difference does/did it make?
Why should I do it?
How is it important?
How do I feel about it?
Now what?
What lesson can I take from this activity?
How can I apply this lesson to other areas in my life?

We went to the Christalite Methodist Home and did arts and crafts and played a music piece for the elderly. We accomplished bringing happiness and creativity to the elderly.
I learnt that people can be really nice even if you don't know each-other.

The difference we made is that now the people can feel like their family is still with them.

I should do this because it is a good thing and an act of kindness. This is important because we brought more happiness into the people's lives. I felt really nervous then excited while we were there. A lesson I can take away is that even if something's not what you expect it can still be really fun. I can apply this lesson when I'm doing something I don't know about.

Math Unit 9 Reflection

I think that we should've recorded Nicole E.'s video again because Rahul was a snail in it and I think that next time we should find a quieter place to film. I used math language, for example, instead instead of just saying grid I said coordinate grid. I had a slide that said why and then I explained. Next time I still say that we should find a new place also because of the glare. I helped because I helped think of ideas, but we should've reminded Rahul not to make his hand a snail in Nicole E.'s video.

Google Maps Reflection

In this unit I learnt that google maps is very challenging in the beginning, but gets easier once you do it a bit more. I've also perfected my screenshot. I learned a lot of things from this project, but I'm not sure that I'll use this outside of school. In the end I think this was a good idea for us to learn about, but we might not really need this skill in life.
